Typographic Layout

I created this piece for one of my courses, and it was later featured in the 2020 AU Design Show.

For this project, I was given a pre-written essay titled “Graphic design is all around you” and assigned two spreads. I sought to create a design layout that reflected the all-encompassing nature of graphic design (as described in the text), so I initially sketched out various layout options that would convey that feeling in a literal sense. I really wanted to experiment with using text as the background, so I created the background by repeating the words “graphic design” in alternating colors for a more bold effect.

To me, graphic design is daring and creative, and with these spread layouts, I sought to exemplify the power of design.
